Private Residence - Highgate
We have recently obtained planning approval for the remodelling and extension of a detached 1920’s house in the Highgate Conservation Area, a short distance from Kenwood House and Hampstead Heath.
Our design retains the existing, protected facade by CHB Quennell, whilst extending and reconfiguring the space behind and beneath to create a 9,000 sq ft contemporary family home.
We have reorganised the original internal spaces to create a direct axis through the house to the expansive and mature garden which backs onto Highgate Golf Course.
The project has been inspired by Japanese architecture, specifically Katsura Imperial Villa. The material palette is warm and natural, with the extension created around an internal courtyard which brings a beautiful Japanese maple tree into the heart of the home.
