Chalk House

Private House - Kent

Cassion Castle Architects have received planning permission for this bespoke house which is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty, on the edge of the Kent Downs. Due to its isolated, rural location the building was approved under 'Paragraph 55' - a piece of planning legislation which allows for such new homes provided they are of 'exceptional and innovative design quality'. The building is to be constructed from compressed chalk excavated from the site. The project will be zero-carbon in terms of its net energy consumption and will operate off-grid for the majority of the year. Construction is underway.
